Winnetka Announces New Police Chief

The Village formally appointed Patrick Kreis to the position on Wednesday.

Winnetka officially has its new police chief.

Patrick Kreis, who served as the interim chief of police for the past five months, was named the Winnetka chief of police on Wednesday. The news came in a press release sent to the media late Wednesday afternoon.

He assumed the role of interim chief in February after Chief Joseph DeLopez retired. DeLopez had worked within police service for nearly half a century. Check out the story of his retirement .

Kreis has served Winnetka previously in a variety of roles: patrol officer, police sergeant, police lieutenant and deputy chief of police.
