Hometown: Cincinnati, Ohio
Bio: It was somewhere between Rhode Island and California that journalism became my undeniable passion in life. During the summer of my sophomore year at Northwestern University, I biked from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific coast and told stories of American people along the way.

Since then, I have pursued meaningful storytelling in  variety of mediums. I worked for the Rocky Mountain News in Denver, Colo.; WIBW Channel 13 in Topeka, Kan.; and The Wall Street Journal in its Chicago office.

In 2009-2010, I researched the role of the media in Northern Ireland's peace process as the recipient of the Alistair Cooke Journalism Award and Fulbright scholar.

At Northwestern University, I earned my bachelor's degree in journalism with a double major in international studies and a minor in business studies. At the University of Ulster, I earned my master's degree in journalism.

Before hopping over Winnetka, Glencoe and Northfield's Patch, I worked as the editor for Morton Grove Patch.

Besides journalism and storytelling, I love to dance, run, and skip.

Politics: As a reporter, I am interested in politics but maintain a rigid separation between my personal politics and my work.

Beliefs: I believe in journalism's public service mandate to inform, educate, and connect people in their local, national and international communities.
