Readers' Choice Winner: Wilmette Flowers

This week's Readers' Choice poll for best florist shop received more than 350 votes and nine comments. The winner, with 174 votes, was at 3217 Lake Ave. in Wilmette.

"My memories of high school homecoming, prom flower and my grandma's memorial flowers were all from this family-owned flower shop," said Grace in the store's . "They were like our family who have be there with us in good times and sad times. During my visit to the order arrangements for my grandmother's memorial service, the wife of the owner gave me a beautiful flower basket to place at home for my grandma. That was the kind of warmth I need at a time like that."

The runner up, , at 746 Green Bay Rd. in Winnetka received 139 votes.

"When I walk into Hlavacek's I am instantly happy, it is filled to the brim with amazingly beautiful creations," said Betsy Leibson, in the comments section of the poll. "This third generation business continues to delivery not only stunning designs, great customer service, top quality garden perennials, but also has some unusual gifts and cards. There's no need to go anywhere else!"
