'Home Alone' House Sells for Almost $1.6 Million

The red-brick, four-bedroom home in Winnetka has been for sale since the spring of 2011.

Known for its role in the John Hughes film "Home Alone," a colonial Georgian house sold for $1.585 million, according to Coldwell Banker on Thursday.

The house, which is located on the 600 block of Lincoln Avenue, in May last year.

“This iconic home attracted buyers from around the country as well as buyers with roots in Chicago,” said Marissa Hopkins, a broker associate with Coldweel Banker Residential Brokerage.

Owners John and Cynthia Abendshien lived there while the movie was filmed except for a few nights. The film was released in 1990.
