Glencoe Caucus Seeks Delegates

 Glencoe Caucus Seeks Delegates

The Glencoe Village Caucus system is the traditional, non-partisan form of government that enables Glencoe citizens to directly participate in their government. The Caucus is currently seeking candidates to serve on the two committees that are responsible for identifying the best candidates for various elected positions within the village.

The Village Nominating Committee is charged with evaluating candidates for Village President, Village Trustees, Park District Commissioners, and Library Board members. The School Board Nominating Committee performs similar work by examining candidates wishing to serve on the Glencoe District 35 School Board or to represent Glencoe on the New Trier High School Board Caucus.

Caucus delegates are needed to serve on both Nominating Committees for nearly all of Glencoe’s 8 Precincts. Pursuant to the Glencoe Caucus Plan, each precinct is represented by three persons on the Village Nominating Committee and by two persons on the School Board Nominating Committee. All committee members are elected to four-year terms.

To be eligible to serve on a caucus nominating committee, individuals must be registered voters, residents of Glencoe, and reside within the precinct that they represent. Applications for both nominating committees can be downloaded from the Caucus’ website, www.glencoecaucus.org. Deadline for receipt of all applications is Friday, 21 February 2014.

Persons with questions about the application process or concerning any aspects of the caucus itself are encouraged to visit the website for additional information. Alternatively, people may contact any of the committee co-chairs as follows: Village Nominating Committee co-chairs Andy Bulluck and Dan O’Brien at village_caucus_chairperson@glencoecaucus.org, 847-835-7256 (Andy), or 847-835-7256 (Dan); School Board Nominating Committee co-chairs Tom Seftenberg or Frank Molinaro at school_caucus_chairperson@glencoecaucus.org , 312-932-3583 (Tom), or 224-244-2414 (Frank).
