Photo Gallery: New Trier Places 27th, Loyola 47th in State Track Meet

New Trier Senior Leland Later won the 1600-meter run.

New Trier's boys track and field team enjoyed a seven-way for 27th place during the IHSA 2012 State Tournament, with Loyola Academy sharing a five-way tie for 47th place.

The teams faced off against dozens of other top boy's track and field teams this weekend for the coveted state title.

Lake Park High School in Roselle took home the top honor, with Edwardsville High School taking second, and Oak Park-River Forest High School rounding out the top three.

  • New Trier senior Leland won the 1600-meter run and Loyola senior Todd Ford placed fourth.
  • Loyola Academy senior William Hague took 19th in the 3200-meter run. 

Runners beat the heat wave to compete Thursday through Saturday at the O'Brien Stadium in Charleston, Illinois.

Approximately 176 teams, including New Trier and Loyola, competed in IHSA's 3A Series.
