New Trier Rower Makes Selective U.S. Team

Talia La Schiazza of New Trier High School has been selected as a member of the U.S. Rowing Junior National High Performance Team.

The following is from U.S. Rowing:

USRowing is pleased to announce the roster of the junior men and women who have been selected to compete at the 2014 USRowing Club National Championships as members of the U.S. Junior National High Performance Team.

The 20 junior women and 28 junior men were selected after participating in the USRowing high performance camps and will represent the program in Oak Ridge, Tenn., July 16-20.

Members of this team are born in 1997 or later, and will be using this as a development opportunity to race at a very high level and have the chance to practice lessons learned during the camp program. The focus on how to train, increase technical skill sets, and learning how to prepare physically and mentally for international competition begins with the high performance program.

As part of this, all athletes will be “racing up” to compete against older, more experienced crews. They will compete in Intermediate and Senior events that are typically contested by college age or older athletes.

The program is aimed at developing these athletes to compete at the level of competition they would face internationally as members of the United States junior national team.
