(Update at 7:30 p.m.) Highland Park’s Jason Brown was named to the United States Olympic Team today as part of the men’s figure skating contingent after finishing second in the U.S. National Championships, according to a report on USA Today

"I couldn't have asked for anything more," Brown said in the USA Today article after today’s effort in the short program. "I went out there. I was so trained, and I was ready to fight for whatever I could. That's what I did. I enjoyed every moment. I enjoyed the crowd. I can't thank them enough."

(Earlier at 5:10 p.m.) Stirring the crowd to a standing ovation with 10 seconds left in his performance, Highland Park’s Jason Brown grabbed second place in the men’s U.S. Figure Skating Championships by winning the free skate performance today in Boston, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Brown must wait a few more hours before if he learns whether he earned a spot on the United States Olympic Team but it looks like he will make it, according to the Tribune. The Games begin Feb. 7 in Sochi, Russia.
