Thirty-Seven New Trier Students Named National Merit Semifinalists

Thirty-seven students were named National Merit Semifinalists, putting them in the top one percent of high school seniors.

Thirty-seven New Trier High School students have been named National Merit Scholarship Program Semifinalists. 

Over 1.5 million juniors across the United States entered the program by taking the 2012 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. (PSAT/NMSQT). About 16,000 earn the title of Semifinalists, representing less than 1 percent of American high school seniors.

The Semifinalists will have the opportunity to continue in the competition for a National Merit Scholarship. Scholarship recipients will be selected based on skills, accomplishments and potential for success in college.
