New Trier Sisters Head to D.C. for Diabetes Research

Sisters Elizabeth and Catherine Woodburn were selected to represent Illinois as delegates of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's 2013 Children's Congress.

Third time was the charm for New Trier High School students and sisters Elizabeth, 17, and Catherine Woodburn, 15, who applied twice before and were recently selected to represent Illinois as delegates of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s 2013 Children’s CongressWinnetka Talk reported.

The sisters suffer from Type 1 diabetes and joined 148 other delegates from around America to speak with Congress members about the need to support research with the goal of reducing the burden of living with diabetes, “We care about raising awareness, helping with funding and getting JDRF’s message out there,” Catherine told the website.
