Woodley Rd. Considers Annexing to Winnetka

Woodley Road, an unincorporated neighborhood that sits on the border of Winnetka and Wilmette, is considering annexing to Winnetka, the Chicago Tribune is reporting. The annexation would address flooding problems, residents are hoping. There's currently no storm sewer in the area for water to go after a heavy rain. While annexation has been discussed by residents in the past, some are eager to discuss it again as Winnetka moves forward with a proposed $34.5 million Willow Rd. tunnel project.

Hal Francke, an attorney who lives on Woodley Rd., said a $5 million sewer could alleviate flooding, the Tribune reports. It is still unknown as to who would pay for, own and maintain a possible sewer. A decision on whether the area will be annexed, as well as an agreement, must be reached in the next eight to 12 months.
