Winnetka’s Park District Seeks Village Support for Bikeway Master Plan

Winnetka trustees and residents raise concern over a park district plan to improve bicycle travel in Winnetka.

A Winnetka Park District bikeway master plan that aims to improve biking in the village and connect parks, schools and trails with designated routes through the neighborhoods suffered a setback after trustees and residents raised concerns about the plan, Chicago Tribune reported.

Trustees wanted to see more data on the safety of proposed bike lanes, while some residents said a proposal to make Elm Street a primary bicycling route would make the street which is already congested with school traffic and on-street parking, even more clogged up, Chicago Tribune reported.
