Northfield Bids Farewell To Outgoing Trustees, Official

Trustees were sworn in at May's board meeting and immediately got started on village business.

Newly elected trustees of the Northfield Village Board took their oaths at their monthly meeting Tuesday and thanked an outgoing village employee.

"Welcome to the team," Village Manager Stacy Sigman told Allan Kaplan, who replaced outgoing Trustee Fred Teichert. To Joan Frazier and John Chapin, who were both re-elected, she said: "Welcome back."

Village President Fred Gougler took a moment to recognize Teichert's service to the board and Northfield.

"He's at the White Sox game tonight, so I think he's enjoying himself," Gougler said. "One of the things I will always remember about Fred, in addition to being a very conscientious trustee, he was soft-spoken and chose his words wisely. His words were very important.

"Fred always reminded us that our real role is to represent the individual liberties of those we serve."

Sigman echoed the feelings about Teichert.

"We owe him a debt of gratitude," she said. "The last few years have been difficult for this area, and he has worked tirelessly on studies and what options we have to keep this community moving forward."

Board members also congratulated Community Development Director Anne Kane on her new assignment in Minnesota. She'll be leaving July 1.

"We can't thank you enough for the five years of work you've done for the village," Gougler said. "You've been a joy to work with and the evidence of what you've done is everywhere."

Sigman agreed.

"It's easy to find good employees," she said. "But it's very hard to find extraordinary employees, and Anne has been extraordinary."
