Winnetka Police Blotter: 42-inch Screen TV Stolen From Business

A summary of incidents reported from July 13-16

The Winnetka Police Department provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

July 17

Burglary — A 42-inch Vizio flat-screen television was reported stolen from a business in the 800 block of Green Bay Road. The theft may have occurred overnight. The loss was estimated at $807.

Theft — A woman discovered her wallet was missing after it was left unattended at 939 Green Bay Rd. The wallet contained about $100 and various store credit cards.

July 15

Driving With a Suspended License — Julio C. Ruiz, 36, of Chicago, was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license and failure to signal at 2:17 p.m. in the 300 block of Linden Street. The arrest occurred during an investigation after a traffic accident. Ruiz's court date is Aug. 26.

July 14

Driving Without a License — Jesus Martinez-Rodriguez, 31, of Aurora, was arrested in the 1000 block of Tower Road at 4:38 p.m. after a driving violation stop. He was charged with driving without a valid driver’s license and cited for using cell phone while driving. His court date is Aug. 26.

DUI — Richard W. Ashley, 44, of Wilmette, was arrested in the 300 block of Green Bay Road at 9:39 p.m. after a traffic violation stop. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol as well as cited for improper lane usage and having only one red taillight. His court date is Aug. 26.

Theft — John D. Holt, 18, of Kenilworth, was charged with theft after an officer on patrol observed suspicious activity in 300 block of Winnetka Avenue at 11: 36 p.m. His court date is Aug. 11.

July 13

Criminal damage — A man discovered his walkway edge lights and wires were pulled from the ground after hearing noises coming from his front yard in the 00 block of Brier Street. The damage occurred about 12:55 a.m. and the loss amounted to $199.

Burglary — The driver’s side window of a vehicle was smashed in the 700 block of Sheridan Road and a Coach wallet, containing a driver’s license and multiple credit cards, were stolen. The owner told police the loss was estimated at $200.
