Winnetka, Kenilworth Police Team Up to Find Suspect

Collaboration, several leads help detectives track down man charged in burglary.

and police collaborated to identify and charge a Beach Park man with residential burglary Tuesday morning.

Christopher A. Puente, 25, was questioned July 19 after Winnetka police were called to a house in the 300 block of Sheridan Road. Residents found that a man, later identified as Puente, had unlawfully entered the home and fled with cash and portable electronic devices on that day.

“Kenilworth was aware of the call because we share radio signals,” Winnetka Sgt. Marc Hornstein said. “Kenilworth police recalled having contact with someone suspicious and conducting a field interview that morning.

"The officer was able to provide us with who that person was,” he noted.

The information along with other leads led authorities to Puete, who was arrested by Winnetka police on July 27 in Chicago. He was charged with residential burglary, and detectives were able to recover some of the stolen property.

The day after his arrest, Puente had a hearing at the county courthouse in Skokie during which bond was set at $75,000. His next court date is scheduled for Aug. 22.
