Between more than $20,000 in jewels being snatched and a sneaky schoolboy, these are the most recent police reports in Winnetka.

Jewelry Burglar

Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 11:36 a.m.
Police were called to a home on the 1200 block of Westmoor Trail Tuesday morning after a resident noticed a few important items missing. According to the report, an unknown burglar snuck into the home earlier that morning and stole several pieces of jewelry from a second floor bedroom. The items were worth more than $10,000.

Spruce Up the Kitchen

Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 6:31 p.m.
Keep your eyes peeled for stolen iron décor in the village. Winnetka police responded to the 1000 block of Elm Street Wednesday evening when someone noticed an iron baker’s rack was missing from the parking space. The rack, which is valued at $400, was sitting in the alley when it was snatched.

Stealing a Getaway Bike

Thursday, Aug. 23 at 3:36 p.m.
Winnetka’s latest bike-theft victim called police Thursday afternoon after noticing his bike was missing from his bike rack. According to the report, the victim last saw his bike on Aug. 18 when locking it to the rack, and it was stolen the next day. The bike is described as a grey boy’s Trek 3700 with a broken seat, and it’s worth roughly $350.

Stopping a Speed Demon

Friday, Aug. 24 at 12:36 p.m.
Police were called to the 1300 block of Holly Lane Friday afternoon after someone noticed their prized police-evading tool was missing. A burglar allegedly entered the homeowner’s mud room the morning of Aug. 17 and stole an “Escort” Passport Radar Detector valued at $500. The detectors are used in the car and beeps when police are looking for speeders.

Lock Up Your Jewels, Winnetka

Friday, Aug. 24 at 12:20 p.m.
Another Winnetka resident was burglarized sometime on Aug. 19, and the thief stole more than $10,000 in jewelry. According to the police report, someone slipped into the home on the 1100 block of Asbury Avenue and removed several pieces of jewelry from a second floor bedroom and den. Police are still investigating.

Bye Bye, Bike

Saturday, Aug. 25 at 3:37 p.m.
A second bike was stolen in Winnetka last weekend, and police are still looking for the thief. According to the report, an unknown offender somehow stole the $500 bike that was locked to a fence near the tennis courts at . The bike is described as a men’s dark blue GT Techian with neon yellow lines throughout the frame.

Anything but My iPhone

Saturday, Aug. 25 at 6:25 p.m.
Police were called to Saturday evening after an unknown thief stole someone’s black, 4GS Apple iPhone from an unsecured backpack. The bag was left unattended in the boy’s locker room. The phone is worth $200.
