Winnetka Blotter: $27,000 Identity Theft, Cab and Dash

The following information was supplied by the Winnetka Police Department. When arrests or charges are mentioned, all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Burglary-Motor Vehicle

A victim reported between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. July 2, an unknown offender(s) removed a Garmin GPS and a cord from her locked vehicle.  The loss is estimated at $170. 

Criminal Damage

A police officer observed a group of minors spray painting bed sheets, and in the process, got paint on the ground at Wilson St. and Winnetka Ave July 7 at 11:40 p.m. Public works was notified for removal.  

Identity Theft

A victim living in the 200 block of Winnetka Avenue reported July 7 that sometime between midnight June 11 and midnight June 13, an unknown offender(s) made two unauthorized transfers from a credit card in the amount of $27,475.49.  

Theft

A victim reported between 10:15 p.m. July 2 and 9 a.m. July 3, an unknown offender(s) stole a locked bicycle in th 700 block of Elm Street.  The bicycle is described as a men's blue K2 base model, 26-inch and 18-speed with a cat-eye front. The loss is estimated at $900.

A victim reported between 1:30 a.m. July 2 and 10 p.m. July 5, an unknown offender stole an unsecured bicycle from an apartment basement storage room. The bicycle is described as a men's black and red Trek 6700 with a black cargo rack and front shocks.  The loss is estimated at $350.  

Theft of Services

A cab driver reported that at 9:25 a.m. July 4, an unknown subject who the driver picked up in Chicago left the cab at Oak Street and Lincoln Avenue without paying the fare. The amount of the loss was $60.65. 

Traffic

Brandon P. Whitt, 25, of the 4800 block of Dormire Rd., Sidney, OH, was arrested for driving with a suspended license July 2 in the 300 block of Green Bay Road at 6:52 p.m. Whitt also was cited for squealing tires and his court date is scheduled for August 8. 

Nathan Alexander DiGilio, 25, of the 100 block of Radcliffe St., Charleston, SC, was arrested for driving with a suspended license July 8 at 11:23 p.m. DiGilio also was cited for speeding and for driving without insurance.  His court date is scheduled for August 16.
