Sleeping Driver Lost By Gand

Police charged a Palatine man with DUI after finding him sleeping in his car on Frontage Road.

The following reports were provided by the Northfield Police Department. Arrests and charges are accusations, defendants are innocent until proven guilty

DUI

On June 14, officers observed a vehicle parked askew on the 700 block of W. Frontage Road, by the Gand music store, with a sleeping man in the driver's seat, according to police. Officers woke the man, who seemed confused, didn't know where he was or how he got there, police say. Officers charged Alexey Degtyarev, 44, of Palatine, with DU, according to police.

On June 13, officers observing the speed limit on the Edens Expressway clocked a silver Infinity traveling 89 mph in a 55 mph zone, according to police. The Infinity exited on the eastbound Willow Road ramp and drove through three stop signs before stopping for officers, police say. Officers charged Justin E. Stamer, 31, of Winnetka, with DUI, excessive speeding, attempt to flee/elude police and three counts of disobeying a stop sign, according to police.

Suspended License

On June 18, officers investigating an accident on the 1800 block of Winnetka Road charged Alexander J. Washington-Riley, 23, of Chicago, with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving with a suspended license, according to police. Washington-Riley rear-ended an Evanston driver, though no injuries were reported, police say.

Officers at the scene also observed a strong oder of cannabis coming from Washington-Riley's vehicle, but no charges were pressed because they were unable to locate a measurable amount of cannabis in the car, according to police.

Miscellaneous Aid

On June 16, a caller reported a man in a blue shirt and black pants laying face down on the ground, shaking he legs, with bike nearby, on the 0-100 block of S. Happ Road, police say. Officers were unable to locate anyone in the area, according to police.

Service to County Police

On June 15, responding officers were checking on a truck that drove onto a bike path on the 1700 block of Cherry Lane, according to police. The truck was cleared because it was picking up a bouncy house that was being used by a party at a nearby shelter, police say.
