Northfield Police Blotter: Auto Burglary Spree at Condo Garage

A summary of reported incidents from June 21-28.

The Northfield Police Department provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Please e-mail the editor with any questions or to provide proof of expungement.

June 22

Residential burglary: A homeowner called the police around 8:42 a.m. to report that her home was burglarized overnight. There were no signs of forced entry to the occupied house, but a computer, two iPhones and an engagement ring—which was in the upstairs master bedroom—were taken. A purse containing a driver's license, debit cards and credit cards was also missing. The loss was estimated at several thousand dollars.

Burglary from a motor vehicle: A man reported at 5 a.m. that his driver's license, credit cards and $40 in cash were stolen from his unlocked car overnight at Meadowlake Condos in the 4000 block of Arbor Lane.

 Burglary from a motor vehicle: A man reported at 11:55 a.m. that a radar detector, valued at less than $100, and some coins was taken from his unlocked car overnight at Meadowlake Condos in the 4000 block of Arbor Lane. There were no signs of forced entry.

Burglary from a motor vehicle: A $100 radar detector, coins and a BlackBerry phone charger were stolen from an unlocked vehicle overnight in the garage at Meadowlake Condos in the 4000 block of Arbor Lane. 

Burglary from a motor vehicle: Items were removed from two unlocked cars parked overnight at a residence in the 500 block of Edens Lane. From one car, a driver's license, identification card, debit cards and a GPS device valued at $300 were taken. From the other, a pair of men's sunglasses. 

Burglary from a motor vehicle: A man found items removed from his unlocked vehicle after it had been parked overnight in the 1900 block of Pine Street. A leather pouch was missing along with the $40 inside. 

Residential burglary: A resident reported that alcoholic beverages had been stolen from a free-standing pool house at property along Bristol Lane. About $170 in beer and wine was missing from the refrigerator.

 June 23

Burglary from a motor vehicle: A $150 GPS device and checkbook were stolen from a car parked overnight in the 1700 block of Northfield Square. There were no signs of forced entry.

Burglary from a motor vehicle: A resident reported that a $200 GPS device was taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 2000 block of Sufford Road. 

June 25

Criminal damage to property: A woman reported at 7:42 a.m. that the rear windshield of her vehicle had been smashed while it was parked in front of a house  in the 100 block of East Frontage Road. Nothing was reported missing, but the damage was estimated at $350.

 June 26

Theft from a motor vehicle: A Lincolnshire man reported that a rectangular auxiliary light had been taken from the bumper of his jeep during or after it was towed to the 600 block of Frontage Road.

June 27

Burglary from a motor vehicle: A resident of the Meadowlake Condos on Arbor Lane came home from vacation to find his unlocked vehicle had been burglarized. He was missing $10 in cash from the auto's center console.

Theft: A resident reported that his Iron Horse mountain bicycle, valued at more than $1,000, had been stolen from an open garage in the 800 block of North Happ Road.
