Northfield Blotter: Fraud, Identity Theft and A Man Yelling Sweaty Banana

From attempted deceptive practice to a piece of jewelry found on Bristol Street, here are the latest reports from Northfield Police Department.

A resident in the 1800 block of Old Willow Road reported two unauthorized transactions totaling $7,500 on his online banking statement on Nov. 29. The resident notified the bank and they canceled the credit card and credited the resident’s account. 

North Shore Vascular Associates, 495 Central Ave., told police someone tried to cash or deposit two unauthorized checks for a total of $5,550 at a bank in Arlington Heights between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Dec. 12. North Shore Vascular Associate closed the checking account and the bank did not cash or deposit the check.

Identity Theft

A resident in the 00 block of Meadow View Drive reported receiving an alert on Dec. 10 that someone attempted to open an account in his name at Saks Fifth Avenue. Saks Fifth denied the account. 

Attempted Deceptive Practice

A cashier at Dominick’s, 1822 Willow Rd., reported a possible fraudulent check on Dec. 17.  Dominick’s and the police called the woman’s bank to determine if the check was fraudulent but the bank did not call back until after the woman left without purchasing any of the $92 worth of items. The bank later told police that they would not honor the check for undisclosed reasons.

Sweaty Banana

A resident in the 1700 block of Colonial Lane reported male subject driving in the 200 block of S. Happ road yelling at her daughter on four separate occasions around 5:04 p.m. on Dec. 13. The resident told police the man yelled things such as sweaty banana and wiener schnitzel. 

Found Jewelry

A piece of jewelry was found on the ground in the 200 block of Bristol Street.
