Identity Thief Buys iPhones on Victim's Account

The following information is from the Winnetka Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Traffic arrest

Isaias Diaz, 52, of Chicago, was arrested for driving with a revoked driver’s license on Feb. 3 at 3 p.m. in the 300 block of Green Bay Road. Diaz was also cited for making an improper left turn. He was given a Deb. 18 court date.

Joseph C. Wojciechowski, 43, of Chicago, was arrested for driving with an expired driver’s license (more than one year) on Feb. 4 at 2:15 p.m. in the 500 block of Lincoln Ave. Wojciechowski was also cited for having a defective windshield. He as given a March 17 court date.

Identity theft

A victim discovered between Jan. 28 and Feb. 3, that someone opened a Verizon wireless account using the victim’s personal information and purchased several Apple IPhones. Amount of loss is unknown.

A victim discovered on Feb. 3 that someone made two unauthorized purchases with her Northern Trust Visa debit card.
 The amount of loss is $762.34.

Fraudulent activity

A 17-year-old boy from New Trier Township was arrested Feb. 7 for fraudulent activity. He was referred to peer jury.
