Glencoe Blotter: Mini-Cooper Stolen from Fields Infiniti, Indiana Man Charged with Home Invasion

A summary of crimes reported in Glencoe from March 17 to 23.

The following items are taken from the Glencoe Public Safety Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

March 21

Dog Complaint — An offleash dog charged another dog, scratching the second dog at 12:45 p.m. on the 500 block of Oakdale Avenue. The first dog's owner was cited.

March 20

Suspicious Person — A homeless man was reported walking down the middle of Green Bay Road at Adams Avenue, pushing a shopping cart at 9:06 a.m.

Nuisance — A woman reported that bags of trash, including dog feces, continue to be dumped in her backyard from Sheridan Road. Someone also dumped carpeting at 12:47 p.m. on the 100 block of Old Green Bay Road.

 

March 18

Home Invasion — A 38-year-old Griffith, Ind., man was arrested on charges of felony home invasion and kidnapping for an incident that had been reported at 4:50 p.m. on March 15 on the 100 block of Crescent Drive. The man's bond was set at $5 million, and he was turned over to the custody of the Cook County Sheriff's Department.

Auto Theft — A red 2007 Mini-Cooper coupe was stolen off the lot at Fields Infiniti. The report was taken at 12:14 p.m., but the theft was caught on surveillance tapes sometime after 11 p.m. on March 14. The car lot managers noticed the car was missing, but it couldn't be located, so they observed the tapes. On tape, they saw a silver Mercedes drive up and two men get out of the car and steal the Mini Cooper. It is possible keys had been left in the vehicle. The retail value for that model of car is $17,500.

Underage Drinking — Two 16-year-old boys and one 17-year-old boy were cited for underage consumption and possession of alcohol at 10:35 p.m. outside Walgreen's on the 100 block of Green Bay Road. The boys were turned over to their parents.

Juvenile Nuisance — Teeneagers were throwing tennis balls at passing cars at the intersection of Monroe Avenue and Vernon Avenue at 5:55 p.m.

 

March 17

Driving with Suspended License — Police pulled over a 48-year-old Evanston man at 11:26 p.m. for driving 47 miles an hour in a 30 mph zone on Green Bay Road at Harbor Street. After police stopped him in his white 2010 Mazda sedan, police found his license had been suspended. He showed a Massachusetts driver's license that was not valid. He was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license and also cited for speeding.

Juvenile Nuisance — Twelve- and 13-year-old boys were shooting Nerf guns at people in front of Air Fitness on the 600 block of Vernon Avenue at 4:06 p.m.
