Glencoe Blotter: DUI Arrest of Milwaukee Man; Bike Stolen From Train Stop

A summary of incidents reported in Glencoe from Sept. 1-6.

The following reports were provided by the Glencoe Public Safety Department. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Please email the editor with any questions or to provide proof of expungement.

Sept. 5

Bicycles Found — Two children's bicycles were found in the alley behind the 7-Eleven store in the 100 block of Green Bay Road at 1:41 a.m. One is a light blue Diamondback BMX with white tires and the other is a light blue Electra cruiser-style bike.

Lost Wallet — A man reportedly lost his black leather billfold and driver's license at 11:49 a.m. in the 600 block of Vernon Avenue.

Lost Pet — Fluffy, a gray kitten with blue-green eyes, was reported lost at 12:21 p.m. in the 100 block of Green Bay Road.

Sept. 4

Driving under the Influence — Rashid Khan, 51, of Milwaukee, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence at 3:21 a.m. in the Edens Expressway near Tower Road. He was allegedly driving a black 2006 Scion at 83 mph in a 55 mph speed zone as his vehicle traveled southbound on Interstate 94.

He also charged with speeding and having an open container of alcohol, as a half-empty bottle of gin was allegedly found in rear passenger compartment. Police said Khan's blood alcohol content registered a level of .17. His court date is Sept. 28.

Fake ID — A teenager tried to purchase two 30-beer packs at 10:01 p.m. with a fake Florida identification at the 7-Eleven store in the 100 block of Green Bay Road.  Joseph Tarkington, 18, of Evanston was cited for misrepresentation of age after he presented a driver's license that claimed he was 21.

Sept. 3

Egging — A house was reportedly egged at 7:47 p.m. in the 700 block of Apple Tree Lane.

Loud Party — Police were called to investigate a loud party at 8:42 p.m. in the 300 block of Brookside Lane. A live band was playing for an adult birthday party, and police asked them to turn the volume down. Police returned at 11:53 p.m. and once again advised them to turn off the music.

Sept. 2

Reckless Animal Feeding — A woman reported her neighbor in the 500 block of Oakdale Avenue was scattering an excessive amount of birdseed and bread crumbs in the yard at 11:27 a.m. It was attracting unwanted raccoons, foxes and coyotes, making it difficult for her children to play outside. Police spoke to the other resident and advised her to keep the birdseed in bird feeders.

Lost Cell Phone — A woman lost her black Droid cell phone near Starbucks coffeeshop in the 300 block of Park Avenue at 3:50 p.m.

Sept. 1

Theft — A brown Huffy hybrid woman's 26-inch bicycle was reported stolen at 8:54 a.m. from the Glencoe train depot in the 700 block of Old Green Bay Road. The bike was taken between 7 a.m. Aug. 15 and 4 p.m. Aug. 22. The bike had been locked to a rack.

Telephone Harassment — A woman in the 700 block of Redwood Lane reported at 8:44 a.m. that she was receiving threatening phone calls from her estranged husband.

Bat Complaint — A 63-year-old woman reported a bat flapping around her kitchen at 7:57 a.m. in the 1000 block of Sheridan Road. Police captured the bat and took away the winged creature.
