Meditation is the practice of silencing the mind usually used for relaxation and stress reduction. A little me-time is exactly what you need to make life a little better for you and others around you. Here are some benefits of meditation:

1)    Stress Release. All those thoughts racing through your head during the day can be controlled through meditation. Every day is one thing after another, non-stop chaos. Meditation can help you gain a new perspective on the chaotic and stressful situations that you encounter each day and teach you to manage your stress.

2)    Concentration. There is no time like the present! With all that chaos that comes with being a parent of a child with autism, it is good to focus on what is happening now. The day is unpredictable, so trying to do too many things at once just won’t work. Meditation can help your mind relax and focus, so that you can give your loved ones your full attention.

3)    Knowledge of Self. Meditation helps us to have a deeper understanding of ourselves and what purpose we serve. Being the parent of a child with autism, you were clearly brought into this world to serve a very important purpose. Meditation allows your mind and body to be brought together in harmony; one won’t work without the other!
