NSCDS Basketball Results for December 10 - 16

North Shore Country Day School girls' and boys' basketball team results for the week of December 10th.

Raider Boys' Basketball

Saturday, December 15 vs. Mooseheart High School

"This weekend resulted in two wide margin defeats for the Raider Boys. Saturday, in front of a standing room only crowd, the high publicized Mooseheart team outscored North Shore 57-42.  The Raiders stayed with Mooseheart early and pulled ahead by 3 early in the second quarter, when Riley Hall picked up his 3rd foul of the contest more than 30 feet away from the hoop.  From that point on, the Raiders lost momentum and were never able to recover.  Mooseheart scored off assist moving the ball multiple times until it found its shooters in the right spots.  Their big guys hit the glass and ran the floor chasing down and stopping several Raider fast break attempts. Hall, Curren, Meyer, Hondmann and Tullman played admirably, minimizing Mooseheart's length down low, but eventually, it was too tough to score consistently as the final score board showed."

"The Raiders could not match U-High's intensity in the first quarter. The quarter went back and forth until the final minute; the Raiders played defense for 50 seconds until U-High hit what felt like a backbreaking three pointer to end the quarter to go up 18-10. Despite all of that, Austin Curren led the team with an efficient 13 points while Riley Hall led the team with 10 rebounds. Jamie Swimmer also contributed with a strong floor game."

Raider Girls' Basketball

Friday, December 14 vs. Roycemore

North Shore Country Day 51, Roycemore 16.
Halftime: 31 - 5.

North Shore scoring: Nolan 12 + 9 rebounds, Vohra 10, Kroll 9 + 9 rebounds, McCarthy 6, Slotkin 6 + 12 rebounds, Chandler 4, Redzovic 2, Robertson 2.

North Shore Country Day girls' varsity basketball improved their record to 4-5 with a 51-16 victory over host Roycemore Friday afternoon.

"It wasn't always pretty, but I'm really pleased with the way they played," said first year coach Dana Leonard. "We hustled, got points from our press and traps and moved the ball much better, especially out of the high post, which we hadn't been doing before. Claire McCarthy had 5 assists from there in the first half alone."

Another bright spot was rebounding against their taller opponents; particularly on the offensive glass where junior Becca Slotkin had 9 of her game-high 12 rebounds. While usually giving up a few inches in height to her opponents, Slotkinhas managed to grab 44 rebounds in her last 4 games.

The Raiders head into the holiday break with games next Wednesday at Notre Dame of Chicago and Thursday at Chicagoland Jewish High School.

Tuesday, December 11 vs. Willows Academy

Willows Academy 39,  North Shore 9.
Halftime: 19 - 7.

North Shore shooting 4-41 (0-10 3 point FG vs. 4-6 in their 38-37 win over Chicago Hope on Friday).
Points: Vohra 4, Kroll 2 (20 vs. Chicago Hope), Redzovic 2, Nolan 1.
