Look Up! You Might See Northern Lights Today

Aurora Borealis could appear as far south as Central Illinois and Thursday evening will be your best chance to see it.

The Midwest doesn't get Northern Lights very often, but that might change this evening.

A powerful solar flare will reach Earth today, causing Aurora Borealis to appear further south than usual — possibly as far south as central Illinois, according to Huffington Post.

According to Joe Kunches, a space forecaster, our best chance of seeing the light display would be Thursday evening, depending on cloud coverage.

There might even be some lingering lights on Friday, too.
