Images of the Nativity Story

Around the holidays, an abundance of images around us promote shopping hours and doorbusters. This program is designed to emphasize images that are central to the meaning of the season. Imagery that deals with the nativity will be shown, discussed, and compared with one another to reveal the multiple layers of meanings that can be conveyed even within the same subject matter. Various artists from different cultures and time periods will be included to provide a broad look at an important tradition in Art History. Some of the artists whose work will be discussed by art historian Jeff Mishur include Botticelli, Van Eyck, Tanner, Martini, Fabriano, Campin, and van der Goes.

Monday,    12/2,    10 - 11:30am.  The cost is $10 member; $12 non-member  and registration is required.  Call 847/784-6030.  Website www.nssc.org.
