Northfield Blotter: School Graffiti and Switched License Plates

The following arrest information was supplied by the Northfield Police Department. When arrests or charges are mentioned, individuals are innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.

 

Criminal damage

Police responded to a complaint on June 19 that there was graffiti on the side of a building at Middle Fork School (405 Wagner Rd.). While on location, the officer noticed a park district shed with a broken lock and a damaged latch. The case is under investigation.

Police on patrol observed a defaced stop sign on June 20 at the southeast corner of Wagner and Old Willow roads. There was white spray paint on the sign, and officers found one picnic table etched with a sharp instrument. Farther from the roadway, another table had more graffiti on it. Police are investigating.

Theft

Employees of Northfield Community Church, 400 Wagner Rd., reported overnight June 22 someone removed a quantity of scrap metal valued at $1500. The metal was in a rented dumpster that was clearly marked it was private property. 

Traffic

Police stopped a 21-year-old Berwyn woman for speeding in the 500 block of West Frontage Road June 20. Police discovered the license plates were registered to a different vehicle. When questioned, the woman said her car was being serviced and since it was not drivable, her license plates were put on the car she was driving. She was cited for speeding, and not having a driver's license or proof of insurance, and improper registration. She was released on a $2,000 bond. Her court date is July 10.

Police stopped a 42-year-old Chicago man June 25 for speeding in the 2100 block of Old Willow Road. They discovered he he had no driver's license. He was released on a $1,500 i-bond and a court date was set for July 10.
