Camp Out in the Park this Weekend in Winnetka

Glencoe Art Fair: Glencoe will be holding it's annual art fair this weekend! More than 100 juried artists from around the world will be at the festival. Everything from ceramics to jewelry to photography will be available. Saturday August 3 and Sunday August 4, 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on both days. Downtown Glencoe. FREE. Pirates Family Camp Out: Arrrrrgh, mateys — join the Winnetka Parks District in a very special Pirate Camp Out this Saturday night! Grills will be available for families, and participants can roast marshmallows during a special showing of Pirates in the Caribbean 2. A continental breakfast will be served in the morning. Saturday August 3. Costs vary. More information is available here.

Northfield Farmer's Market: What better way to enjoy the summer than at a farmer's market? And Northfield has one of the best around. Saturday August 3. 7:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Entry is FREE. More information is available here.

Artful Summer: Picasso and Chicago: Picasso and our own city to the south are much more intertwined than most of us realize. Find out more on the artist's unique relationship with the city through a presentation by Ginny Voedisch. Voedisch will present an illustrated lecture on the Art Institute of Chicago's recent exhibition on Picasso. This event is through a partnership with the Institute. Salsa in the Park: Join the Wilmette Parks District for a salsa night in the park on Friday! The event will be held at the Starlight Theater at the Wallace Bowl, and will begin at 8 p.m. A reliable source told us that the teachers are among the top in the area, so don't miss your chance to learn from the best! Gillson Beach Campout: What's better than camping in your own backyard? Camping at the Gillson Beach! Let the Wilmette Parks District take the stress out of camping for you. As the sun sets, families are invited to roast marshmallows around the camp fire and enjoy family entertainment. In the morning, breakfast will be available. (Don't worry, parents — there will be coffee!) Parks Staff will be on hand throughout the whole event. All children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Overnight from August 3 at 7:30 p.m. until August 4 at 8 a.m. $65 for residents and $82 for non-residents (program fee is for two family members). There's an extra $30 for each additional family member. More information is available here.

A Night at the Opera: The Wilmette Parks District just keeps the great activities coming! Join the District at a Night at the Opera on Sat. night, with a de Corneto Opera being performed live at the Starlight Theater at the Wallace Bowl. While other North Shore residents may be flocking into the city for Lollapalooza, you'll be enjoying a cultured night under the stars with some great classics. Saturday, August 3, 8 p.m., FREE.
