Patch Peek: Antiques + Modernism Winnetka Show

Patch grabbed a sneak peek of the antiques show in Winnetka, which began on Thursday for professionals and continues through Sunday for the public.

Patch checked in with Amy Brock, the show chair of , this week. The antiques show (full-schedule uploaded in the Patch media gallery) features dealer-guided tours, two lectures and a brunch buffet on Friday.

Patch: What's the significance of your event this week for the organization?

Brock: Our beneficiary, the , receives no tax dollar support and therefore relies on funds raised at the show for capital improvements. On any given day the Community House is used by Rotarians, teachers, athletes, actors, dancers and artists alike. Everyone in Winnetka benefits from supporting this significant hub of our community and the Woman’s Board is committed to keeping it as vibrant as ever!

Brock: When people hear antiques, some may think about old, dusty things. That is not the case at our show. The items for sale at Antiques + Modernism Winnetka are gorgeous, vibrant and elegant...Moreover, unlike viewing items online, attending our show allows you to see the scale, patina, hue and effect of a piece to truly envision how it would work best in your home.

Patch: What's your favorite part about this work?

Brock: While I love the design and style aspects of the show, beloved events like Antiques + Modernism Winnetka help to sustain Winnetka’s treasured Winnetka Community House. The amount of dedication and hard work put into this event by the Woman’s Board and the staff of Winnetka Community House is truly astounding and I’m honored to be a part of it all.

Patch: Have you seen any indication of a stymied economy in your work?

Brock: We have found that people are actually more interested in investment pieces or items that can forever be treasured, as opposed to cheaper items.

Patch: Any particular hot items to know about?

Brock: Nate Berkus' Design Directors, Sasha Adler and Lauren Gold, will be shopping the show and tagging a short list of of their favorites design items. Antiques + Modernism patrons will certainly want to keep an eye open for these “uber-chic must-haves” spotted by the Nate Berkus team!
