Groupon backer Eric Lefkofsky has dropped off Forbes’ 2012 ranking of the richest people in America.
The 43-year-old with a net worth of $1.03 billion fell off the list because he hovered too close to the $1.1 billion mark required to make the list, Forbes reported.
“Thirty-two members fell from the ranks of Forbes 400 in the past 12 months, eight more than last year,” Forbes wrote.
Just last year, Forbes named the Glencoe resident as one of 2011’s new billionaires.
Other Chicagoans that fell off the annual list of America’s richest include Nicholas Prtizker ($1.07 billion), CEO and chairman of Hyatt Development Corp., and Mark Pincus ($760 million), Zynga founder, Crain’s reported.
A total of 12 Chicago-area business CEOs made it on Forbes’ list.
Microsoft Corp. chairman Bill Gates took the top spot with a net worth of $66 billion, followed by Warren Buffett of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. ($46 billion).
