Friends Park Construction Marching Forward

Friends Park, in downtown Glencoe, will be ready to play on at the beginning of August, according to the Glencoe Park District's Manager of Marketing and Communications, Erin Maassen.

The new park will feature two separate playground structures - a large one for five-to-twelve-year-olds with slides and a climbing area, and a boat-themes structure with swings for two-to-five-year-olds. There will also be plenty of seating area, a new water fountain, a handicap accessible play area and many other structures to play on.

The construction crew is now waiting for the delivery of one final playground piece. Once that arrives, the crew will install the surface on the playground and finish landscaping the park.

The crew will be installing a new water line this week, which may result in street closures on Vernon Ave. this week.
