Winnetka Library Temporary Parking in Effect

Winnetka Library's parking lot is temporarily closed while crews work on a three-week construction project to reduce future flood risk.

Winnetka Public Library's parking lot will be temporarily closed while crews install measures to manage storm water and reduce future flood risks, according to the library’s website.

The village has established temporary library patron parking on Linden Street at the following locations:

  • The east side of Linden Street, immediately north of the Library entrance
  • The west side of Linden Street, immediately south of Oak Street
  • The east side of Linden Street, south of the Library entrance

There are also 90-minute free parking on Oak Street or in the center aisle of the Village Hall lot, just south of Village Hall, facing Oak Street, according to the library’s website.

The three-week construction project aims to reduce storm water “ponding” in the parking lot, which contributed to the damage the library sustained during the two major flood events of 2006 and 2011, Winnetka Talk reported.
