Winnetka Blotter: Identity Theft and Stolen For Sale Signs

The following information was supplied by the Winnetka Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

 

Burglary

A victim reported jewelry missing from a bedroom in the 1000 block of Tower Road on June 7.  The unknown offender(s) are believed to have entered the residence and removed items between 11:55p.m. May 19 and 7:00p.m. June 7.  The loss is estimated at $700.

Identity Theft

A victim discovered three unauthorized purchases on his Visa debit card on May 15. The amount of the loss is $620.

Theft

A victim discovered that a silver Trek boy’s bicycle was removed from a back yard in the 900 block of Ash Street between 9 p.m. on June 1 and 6:30 a.m. on June 4. The amount of the loss is estimated at $400. 

A resident reported a street sign was removed from the northeast corner of Maple and Elm streets sometime between midnight on May 4 and 11 p.m. June 4. Police notified the public works department and the loss is estimated at $390.

A village employee discovered four metal signs from two barricades had been removed from the intersections of Tower Road and Vernon Avenue and Tower Road and Forest Glen Drive West on June 5 at 3:02p.m. The amount of the loss is estimated at $400.

A victim discovered two ‘for sale’ Coldwell Banker Real Estate signs had been removed from the 500 block of Sheridan Road on June 5 at 8:44 p.m. The amount of the loss it estimated at $150.

Traffic Arrest

James S. Findlay, 22, of the 800 block of Greenwood Avenue, Glencoe, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on June 5 at 1:38 a.m. in the 600 block of Sheridan Road. A court date is scheduled for June 28. 

William M. Crane, 20, of the 1000 block of Mt. Pleasant Road, Winnetka, was arrested for driving with a suspended license. Crane also was cited for no rear registration light. A court date is scheduled for June 28. 

Lizbeth Huicochea, 30, of the 500 block of Bank Lane, Highwood, was arrested for driving without a valid driver’s license on June 8 at 7:51 p.m. Huicochea also was cited for improper lane usage. A court date is scheduled for July 16.

Francisco Ramirez, 34, of the 1100 block of Pulaski, Chicago, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol June 10 at 3:18 p.m. Ramirez also was cited for speeding. A court date is scheduled for June 28.

Nancy T. Kaehler, 58, of the 300 block of Woodstock, Kenilworth, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol June 10 at 9:28 p.m. Kaehler also was cited for improper lane usage. A court date is scheduled for June 28.
