Jazz Vespers at Winnetka Congregational Church

On Sunday, February 27, 2011 at 4:00 PM, the Winnetka Congregational Church, 725 Pine Avenue, Winnetka, IL, will present a new worship and musical offering—a jazz vesper service. The program will feature the Tammy McCann Quartet in a set of worship motifs. The musical offerings will include familiar titles as well as new fare set in context with a jazz trio.

Tammy McCann is, as Howard Reich of the Chicago Tribune notes, “… clearly the next great voice out of Chicago.” This Chicago-based singer is one of the last of Ray Charles’ Raelettes and also a protégé of Chicago great, Ramsey Lewis. A classically trained singer who spent six years in Europe, Tammy has successfully mastered the application of her voice to the idioms of jazz and gospel. Gifted with an instrument of uncommon heft, timbre and range, her performance will take the audience on a journey beyond just entertainment to reflection and praise.

The upcoming jazz vespers comes at a time when Tammy is on the brink of receiving both local and national attention that will make her name familiar in the musical mainstream.

The Jazz Vespers is free and open to the public. Voluntary donations will be accepted.
The program will begin at 4:00 p.m. (Doors will open at 3:30).Seating is limited and will be available on a first come, first served basis.  On-street parking is available.

For further information about the service, call the Church at 847-441-3400. For further information about Tammy McCann visit www.tammymccann.com.
