Jewish Scholar Steven Katz to Recount Recent Visit to Iran with Glencoe's Aitz Hayim

Iran continues to be misunderstood by the U.S. government and most Americans, especially their perception of Jews, which lead to internationally renowned Jewish scholar Steven T. Katz, to be invited to the country to experience the political and social environment first-hand.  On February 28 and March 1, 2014, Katz will share his perspective with Glencoe’s Aitz Hayim for Jewish Living, 1185 Sheridan Road, Glencoe, IL.

As news reports selectively provide glimmers of information about Iran, Professor Katz will reveal what is actually happening within this ancient country and explore some of ways that Iran can reconnect with the U.S. and even Israel.

Katz, professor of Near Eastern studies at Cornell University, has written and/or edited numerous texts ranging in subject from late-20th-century Judaism to mysticism and philosophy to the Holocaust. He is a frequent guest lecturer at Aitz Hayim, where he shares an ongoing historical perspective of Jews throughout history and the world.
