Cops Find Thief Through Job Application

The following reports were provided by the Northfield Police Department. Arrests and charges are accusations and do not guarantee guilt.

Theft Under $500
On Nov. 2, an employee on the 300 block of S. Happ Road reported money from a gray lockbox in her office's lobby had been taken, though she did not see or hear anyone go in or out of the lobby because her office door was closed, according to police.

One witness saw a man enter the office, enquiring about jobs, police say. Officers canvassed the area and were told of a man matching the suspect's description had left a job application at a nearby Subway restaurant, according to police.

Detectives made contact with the man, who agreed to return the money, and the victim declined to press charges upon restitution, according to the report.

DUI
On Oct. 30, Scott F. Darville, 48, of Racine, Wi. was charged with improper lane usage and DUI over .08, according to police.

Hit and Run
On Oct. 31, a Northbrook resident driving near Waukegan and Willow roads was hit from behind by a white Lexus, according to police. Both drivers got out of their vehicles and agreed to meet in the parking lot, but the driver of the Lexus drove off instead, police say.

Theft Over $500
On Nov. 4, an employee from Field's BMW reported an unknown offender stole $3,000 from two deposit envelopes in a locked manager's office, according to police.
