Two Residents Named Among Forbes Richest Americans

Patrick Ryan of Winnetka and Eric Lefkofsky of Glencoe have been named among the 400 richest Americans, according to Forbes. 

Lefkofsky, 44, is ranked 325th on the list and is worth an estimated $1.75 billion. Lefkofsky is the co-founder of Groupon and the company's biggest shareholder, and was named the website's new CEO in August after serving as interim co-CEO since February after Andrew Mason was fired, according to Forbes. Since February, stocks in the company have doubled. Lefkofsky also owns a 20% stake in MediaOcean and is a partner in LightBank. 

Ryan, 76, was ranked 371th on the list. Ryan is the Chairman and CEO of Ryan Specialty Group. He founded Pat Ryan and Associates shortly after graduating from Northwestern University, Forbes states. The company, now called Aon, merged with Combined International in 1982. Aon is now the world's largest reinsurance broker. Ryan retired in 2008, but came out of retirement in 2010 to start Ryan Specialty Group. He also owns a 20% stake in the Chicago Bears.
