I am a doctoral candidate at the University of Illinois- Urbana Champaign in the Department of Human and Community Development. I do research on family, violence, divorce, child custody, and adolescents' exposure to violence in the home. I taught a course in the fall of 2011 (Gender, Relationships, and Society). I am always trying to bridge the gap between academic research, professionals, and community members.

When I am not doing research and teaching, I love to cook for friends and family, work out crazy early in the morning (aka boot camp workouts), and day dreaming about graduating and getting a job where I can travel frequently.

My disseration study focuses on mothers' and professionals' experiences in the North Shore. Specifically...

Questions for moms:

Are you a mom who resides in the North Shore?

and

Has your current or former husband ever phyiscally hurt you?

We're doing a research project about moms in this situation.

Questions for professionals:

Are you a professional (e.g., therapist, GAL, attorney, religious leader) that has worked with mothers or families from the North Shore who experienced violence by their current or former husband (or youth exposed to violence against their mother by their father)?

We're doing a research project about professionals with this work experience.

So, I answered yes, what next?

Participation in this study would entail a one-time meeting that would last approximately 1 – 2 hours. We could meet wherever is most convenient for you.
