On the article Deputy Police Chief Talks Cell Phone Ban Enforcement

Dr Parker makes some good points about 2 wheeled devils who ride on our tax maintained roads and disregard the safety of pedestrians, especially children who are trying to cross streets. HP Bike riders seem well immunized against tickets even though Illinois law specifically requires cyclists to adhere to ALL traffic laws including the commonly and laughably disregarded stop sign law, a sign that is placed there to protect all including pedestrians. And, according to Illinois Law, "... Persons riding 2 abreast shall not impede the normal and reasonable movement of traffic." But after spending just a few minutes in Highland Park, one can observe bicyclists routinely impeding vehicles and threatening pedestrians, I guess bike riders and their mothers never try to cross streets. How come bicyclists get special treatment?

ReplyA great opportunity to continue the tradition of guaranteeing excellent education in Highland Park and Deerfield and for maintaining our property values. Our two towns are known for providing America with its next doctors, lawyers, business persons, scientists, film producers, educators...the list is endless. Families move to our towns for the fantastic educational value our safe and top quality schools provide. We as community members must maintain our many years' long reputation for great public school education, not too many towns in America can rival us.

ReplyLake County, Highland Park. Miserable and painful city to live in: police and fire departments respond in about 2 minutes, top quality yes, PUBLIC schools produce leaders of medicine, science, business and theater (Yukky), strong and visible parental involvement in each and every public school, every conceivable type of restaurant with free parking, maybe the greatest grocery store in the world SUNSET Foods, a 24 hour pharmacy Walgreens, 25 minute train ride to Chicago, 25 minute car ride to O'Hare, ZERO murder rate, How many killed in Forbes hometown of New York, low income families intertwined with richer folks sharing resources, free health clinic for low income folks, I CAN'T STAND LIVING IN MISERY ANY LONGER, LAKE COUNTY, HIGHLAND PARK, TAKE ME TO Times Square, NEW YORK CITY: $24.00 per 12 hour parking fee and just $ 38,000 per student per year for private school, higher tuition than Harvard University. Yes, Lake County, Highland Park, is a miserable place to live. By the way, where is New York's finest, Bernie Madoff; what happened to New Yorker Eliot Sptizer's career? Don't forget the safe, clean and artistic subway system in New York. Hey Forbes, what's with all these nut cases in New York pushing men and women onto subway tracks? Forbes, are you out of your mind?

On the Blog Post Reducing Gun Violence in Our Communities
Lou

ReplySadly, the Constitution died on 9-11; warrantless wiretaps and killing of Americans by our own government without due process are now commonly accepted mishaps.Perhaps democracy was never meant to be permanent given the depravity of human nature, how many innocent Americans murdered today, how many kids bullied, how many plans to kill with guns all around the country, how many kids killing other kids just for drug territory? The crime/gun/drug/shooting/gang/murder problem can only be addressed by bountiful non-Constitutional augmentations such as stop and frisk in crime ridden areas, more wiretaps, warrantless searches and seizures and a far different 2nd Amendment. Overall, the Bill of Rights is a failed experiment made by scholarly dreamers escaping religious tyranny only to realize that human nature is simply Freud's Id beating the crap out of his Ego. America eventually will resemble a war zone resulting in a lower murder rate and far fewer freedoms for all. The 2nd Amendment will definitely change. "To keep and bear" will probably become"be registered or be arrested." No matter what, human nature will always rise to its putrid heights, but a reduction in America's killing rate must be accomplished no matter what happens to the Constitution. The 2nd Amendment is due for a huge change just as the modified 4th, 5th and 6th Amendments do not resemble anything adopted in 1791. Why? Because American life depends upon actual security in theaters, malls and schools.

Homosexuals have possessed marriage rights for years in Illinois. What? You're kidding! Don't believe me? Couldn't a gay guy marry a lesbian woman?

On the article Judge Suggests Probation Possible in Teen Burglary Case
Lou

ReplyWhat is the best course before these men are released back into society? Prison, with its inherent dangers and isolation, or, probation with a real chance of rehabilitation? Each and every criminal short of those who receive life sentences or the death penalty, return to their homes, neighborhoods, schools and/or communities to interact with just about the same individuals again. Probation would afford these men a chance to start over and also offer the community a chance to watch over them and maybe assist in their rehabilitation. None of us is perfect and I believe the judge, by considering probation, is making the right decision. Yes, the homeowner was scared and if he suffered he could sue in civil court. But, no physical injuries occurred even though they could have. I hope these two understand this compassionate judge's aims and the gift they could receive.

Do you mean, "Deerfield's Bakery?" Spelling of the actual name is the possessive of Deerfield. Most people don't know this but do know of their fantastic products.

On the article Cardinal George Says Same-Sex Marriage Is 'Against The Common Good', Do You Agree?
Lou
9:13 am on Friday, January 4, 2013
ReplyGays can already marry in Illinois. Don't believe me? How about if a Gay Man marries a Lesbian Woman? If Illinois prevents a gay guy from marrying another, it would be prejudicial and against the principle of equality under the law. Preventing a 'same sex' person from marrying another is also prejudicial since the reason cited is that the couple could not conceive. Oh heavenly father, Cardinal George, numerous opposite sex couples cannot conceive also, should their marriages be extinguished? George, where was your God when a nutcase shot 20 children a few weeks ago, was he overwhelmed with worry about gays marrying each other? Overall, isn't it better to allow persons to decide for themselves who does the dishes and who does the laundry?

Under calm and clinical conditions, without a powerful adrenalin surge, it takes at least 5 seconds to assess and interpret an imminent danger, locate a concealed weapon, place a weapon in hand safely, draw it out, cock, aim and fire without hitting anything but target. Not a long time unless in the other hand is a cocked Glock, just 0.25 seconds is required to pull that trigger. Criminals hold at least a 20 fold time advantage and always utilize the element of surprise, like being rear ended at a red light. We never know when it's coming. Concealed carry is not the best solution, but equalizing the economic landscape could prevent human beings from becoming criminals or could afford mental health care for more. How many Glencoe residents hold up Highland Park residents each weekend? Not too many. How come? Could it be economic fairness?
