ReplyMedical marijuana has a place and contrary to popular belief, does not lead the majority of users into a lifetime of drug addiction. It helps sick people function which is a hard concept for healthy people to grasp. I hope he signs it into law.

ReplyAs a parent, I remember asking that cameras for the front doors be considered and that all doors be locked. Visitors should be buzzed in. I was told by the principal at Red Oak and by the board that I was being ridiculous and over protective. And that it would be too much work along with being too expensive. Go figure.

On the Blog Post Illinois schools latch on to untested national Common Core education standards

ReplyI can't swallow the Phyllis Schlafly Report as a standard for education. Sorry. As for unifying standards across the country- not a bad idea. A child who moves from California shouldn't be lost when moving to a different state. Or moving from one district to another district. You can still vary your teaching style to facilitate each student. As for text books- you can produce a variety of texts in different styles that work off the Common Core. NCLB hasn't done anything to improve teaching-I wouldn't mind seeing an end to current standardized testing methods. This article presents as a "tempest in a tea pot."

ReplyIf you suffer from celiac disease, you cannot eat gluten. It destroys the small intestine. Any restaurant that provides food that is gluten free could be a blessing. People with other food allergies will also benefit. As for those who don't want another bakery, don't go.

ReplySeparation of church and state. The cardinal can say whatever he wants but the common good promotes stability and happiness. I have no problem with gay marriage.

That would be there. I trust you plan on car pooling in the event the rest of the eager applicants don't have cars?

The sorry state of our country has little to do with people in pain from chronic or terminal illnesses. You are free to face whatever health issues you face with nothing, but I see no reason for everyone else to do the same.
