The following reports were provided by the Northfield Police Department. Road Hazards On Feb. 1, someone notified Northfield Police to report numerous, large nails on the roadway near the 1600 block of Willow Rd., police say. The responding officer removed debris from the road with the help of a nearby business owner, according to police. On Feb. 4, someone reported a gravel truck had lost part of its load near the intersection of Willow Rd. and Sunset Ridge Rd., according to police. A nearby work crew had cleaned up the debris by the time a responding officer arrived, police say. Burglary of Motor Vehicle A Glencoe victim reported her car window smashed in and her Prada purse stolen from her vehicle in the parking lot at 7 S. Happ Rd. on Sept. 27 between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. The purse was in plain view at the time of the incident, and Northfield police continue to investigate. The loss is valued at more than $500. Distrurbance and Consumption of Alcohol by Minors Northfield police responded to reports of a disturbance and possible underage drinking on Clover Lane Sept. 22 at 8:47 p.m. All of those cited are 16-years of age. May 9 Submerged vehicle: State police were notified that a car traveling northbound on the Edens Expressway had run off the road and was submerged in free-standing water near the roadside. Because there was a three-car accident farther up the highway, Northfield police responded and arranged for the Highland Park man to be transported to the emergency room. May 15 Theft: Management at Kraft Foods (555 Waukegan Rd.) informed an ex-employee that he needed to return his company laptop, or they'd report it as stolen. After several unsuccessful attempts to reach him, they reported it to the police. Apr. 5 Possession: Police stopped a 20-year-old Kenilworth man in the 1800 block of Willow Road for disobeying a stop sign at Winnetka and Happ roads. As the officer approached the car, he said he noticed a strong odor of burnt cannabis. He searched the car and allegedly found a small amount of marijuana in the back seat, as well as 23.7 grams on the driver. There was also alcohol in the trunk, police said. The man was charged with two local ordinances (being a minor in possession of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia) and a state misdemeanor (possession of more than 10 but fewer than 30 grams of cannabis). EARLIER: Northfield Police Blotter: Birthday Theft Jan. 18 Suspended driver's license: Police arrested a 19-year-old Northfield woman after a minor traffic accident just before 7:30 p.m. at Central Avenue and Willow Road. They found that her license had been suspended, and they also cited her for failing to reduce her speed to avoid an accident. She was released on a $1,500 i-bond, and her court date is Feb. 21. LAST WEEK: Northfield Police Blotter: Theft, Fleeing Police Jan. 3 Possession of drugs: A 30-year-old Evanston man was arrested just before 12:30 p.m. when he drove the illegal way down a one-way alley near the intersection of Happ and Willow roads. During the traffic stop, the officer noticed a plastic bag of cannabis in the back seat. The man was cited for possession of marijuana and disobeying a traffic control device. Jan. 7 DUI: A police officer saw a 23-year-old Northfield woman turn left on a red traffic signal around 3:45 a.m. The officer stopped and arrested her, and while they were at the police station, the officer smelled cannabis on her. LAST WEEK: Northfield Police Blotter: Minor Consumes Alcohol Dec. 29 Reckless driving: A 31-year-old Schaumburg man careened past a car on the exit ramp to Willow Road from I-94, disobeyed the stop sign, and crashed a 2011 Nissan Versa into a car traveling eastbound on Willow. The man was wanted for fleeing police after a retail theft in Skokie. He did not have insurance. Police from that township arrived to pick up him and process them on their own charges, but not before Northfield Police gave him a $2,000 recognizance bond and a court date on Feb. 21. LAST WEEK: Northfield Man Dies in Car Accident Sunday, Nov. 27 Theft - A resident reported that a jacket, a netbook computer and an iPad were all stolen from the Am Yisrael synagogue. The items were estimated at value of $769.99. Friday, Dec. 2 DUI - Police pulled up behind a black Nissan Altima about 6:50 a.m. in the northbound left-turn lane at the stoplight at Willow and Happ Roads. The car failed to proceed during three separate cycles of the light turning green. Officers approached the car, and found four occupants—all asleep.
