Trevians score 250 points for best-ever performance by a team since 1975.

New Trier Gymnasts Finish in Eighth Place at State Finals

It was New Trier's first appearance at state finals in more than a decade.

Although they finished 8th as a team with a 141.775, New Trier coach Jennifer Pistorius was not disappointed with her team’s first appearance at the state finals since 1995. The Trevians overcame some early nerves and eight falls put together a performance they can build on for next season. “I tried to tell them that it was crazy and loud at the state meet,” said Pistorius, who had brought individuals to compete in the finals but never her whole team. “It was a bit overwhelming for them at first. But it was great. We have a lot to build off of. They will have this experience to build off of.” The Trevians had three individuals finish in the top 31 in the all-around. Kerry Scafidi was 18th with a 36.45, Elana Benishay was 28th with a 35.35 …

Reduced out-of-state tuition is a surprise to a veteran college counselor while providing stiff competition to the University of Illinois, a previous popular destination.

In his 38 years as a college counselor, including the last 26 at New Trier, Jim Conroy has witnessed a lot of trends come and go. But the latest bit of news flowing through his office as department chair of post-high school counseling is a first for the colorfully-spoken Conroy. He never believed he’d see the day when his students would find it cheaper to go to an out-of-state flagship public university than to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. A Marie Murphy parent supports District 203's attempts to make extra money.

The following is a letter to the editor from Judy Trunsky, Marie Murphy vice president of the Avoca School District 37 Parent Teacher Council, in response to a poll on whether New Trier Township High School should sell ads on school property and give naming rights to big donors.
