For more than 30 years, Sherrie Oppenheim, owner of Shirise, a Glencoe shoe and accessory boutique, has been help women on the North Shore find the perfect shoe whether it’s for a night out or a day trip with the family, Glencoe News reported. Shirise customers told Glencoe News that Oppenheim, a Northbrook resident, is phenomenal at remembering customer shoe sizes, preferences and suggestions on current fashion trends. Opened in 1985, the store, located at 341 Park Ave., carries high end shoes and boots from brands such as Jimmy Choo, Chole, Uggs, Stella McCartney and Tory Burch to name a few, according to its website.

An eatery featuring American cuisine is expected to open in February at the former Wienecke Hardware/Active Endeavors space at 694 Vernon Ave., according to Glencoe News. Spearheaded by Glencoe resident and hedge fund CEO Alec Litowitz the restaurant will feature chef Christian Ragano who has worked at NoMi at Park Hyatt Hotel in Chicago, the newspaper reported. The yet unnamed eatery plans to source locally and organic as much as possible and prices will be “not as highbrow as the Blackhawk, and not lowbrow, either,” Eric Fosse, a partner in the restaurant told Glencoe News.
