Winnetka Blotter: Jewelry Thief and an iPhone Bandit

Between more than $20,000 in jewels being snatched and a sneaky schoolboy, these are the most recent police reports in Winnetka.

Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 11:36 a.m. Police were called to a home on the 1200 block of Westmoor Trail Tuesday morning after a resident noticed a few important items missing. According to the report, an unknown burglar snuck into the home earlier that morning and stole several pieces of jewelry from a second floor bedroom. The items were worth more than $10,000. Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 6:31 p.m. Keep your eyes peeled for stolen iron décor in the village. Winnetka police responded to the 1000 block of Elm Street Wednesday evening when someone noticed an iron baker’s rack was missing from the parking space. Winnetka Police Blotter: Man Arrested for Bike Theft, Damage at Lloyd Park

  Earlier: Winnetka Blotter: $27,000 Identity Theft, Cab and Dash Arrests Brandon P. Carver, 25, of 996 Green Bay Rd., Winnetka, was arrested for theft on July 13. The arrest was the result of an investigation into several recent bike thefts in the area, police said. Carver was issued an Aug. 8 court date.  Paddle Board Damaged An unsecured paddle oard from the boat racks was damaged between July 10 and July in Lloyd Park, 799 Sheridan Rd. The repair costs were estimated at $750.  Damage at Lloyd Beach Launch Facility An employee at Lloyd Park, 799 Sheridan Rd. discovered damage to various fencing, signs and a roadway mirror at the Lloyd beach launch facility on July 11.
