Highland Park resident Lena Katamanin is suing a Winnetka based real estate firm, claiming the firm is responsible for the theft of more than $162,000 worth of jewelry from her home during an open house in April, according to Winnetka Talk. Katamanin filed the suit Wednesday in Cook County Circuit Court against Midwest Realty Ventures, LLC, Winnetka Talk reports. In the suit, Katamanin claims the brokerage had "sole control" over her Sheridan Road home during an open house on April 22 that ended with more than $162,000 of her jewelry missing. Highland Park Police were notified about the stolen jewelry in April, according to a May 1 police blotter. "It was reported that jewelry was stolen on Sunday, April 22, between 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. …

Feb. 12 Theft of a motor vehicle — A vehicle was stolen while it was parked, unattended and unsecured with the engine running on the 500 block of Chestnut Street. The victim left the vehicle at 6:00 a.m. and when he returned at 6:10 a.m., he noticed his vehicle missing. The vehicle was later recovered in Niles on Feb. 13.
