How Do Your Schools Rank in the North Shore?

The 'Chicago Tribune' and the 'Chicago Sun-Times' recently ranked the top schools in the area. We've highlighted the best in the North Shore, according to the lists. Is your school on it?

Both the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times have published their 2012 lists of the top schools in the area based on standardized test scores. Their methodology varies — the Tribune ranks by the percent of students who met or exceeded standards while the Sun-Times ranks by average test score. Not surprisingly, North Shore schools appeared on both paper's lists. High schools Deerfield High School was the first non-Chicago school on the Tribune's top 50 Chicago-area high schools list, appearing at #5, followed by New Trier High School at #6. 34 New Trier Seniors Make National Merit Semifinals

High score on precursor to SAT gives the students a crack at program's college scholarships.

New Trier Township High School District 203 announced Thursday that 34 seniors have been named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists. “We’re very proud of our students who are clearly very well prepared and work very hard,” Superintendent Linda Yonke said.  “It’s a reflection of their hard work and our teachers.” Earlier: New Trier Students Ace ACT; Rank Nationally Of about 1.5 million high school juniors across the country who entered the 2012 program by taking the 2010 Preliminary SAT (PSAT/NMSQT), nearly 16,000 of them earned the semifinalist designation.
