Winnetka Trustee Pleads Guilty to DUI

Jennifer Spinney pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol at the Cook County Circuit Court on Friday.

Winnetka Trustee Jennifer Spinney pleaded guilty to DUI Friday, having been pulled over in September and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage and improper turning.  Spinney pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol, which means she must pay a $1,329 fine, be under supervision for one year, attend a victim impact panel and have a suspended license for a period of time. The Cook County Circuit Court clerk's office in Skokie said it's unclear how long her license will be suspended. Regional Police Report: Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run, Man Pleads Not Guilty in Murder, Pot Seized

Skokie Skokie Man Charged in Fatal Hit-and-Run Skokie resident Kristian Hernandez, 36, of the 8200 block of Knox Avenue, has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident resulting in a death, a Class I felony, authorities said Friday. Patch reported on Nov. 6 that 53-year-old Park Ridge resident Ronald Bougan was found dead near Axehead Lake on Touhy Avenue, just east of the I-294 expressway in Des Plaines, on Nov. 5. A man riding his bicycle found Bougan in a grassy area and initially, in the dark, thought he was looking at a deer or other animal, authorities said. Buffalo Grove Two Former Police Officers Charged in Murder, Extortion Plot A Buffalo Grove resident was one of two former police officers charged Oct. 26 with attempted extortion and conspiracy to commit extortion. Federal investigators said Steven Mandell, 61, was involved in an alleged plot to abduct, extort, murder and dismember a victim whom he believed had access to large amounts of cash generated from commercial real estate holdings. Also charged was Gary Engel, 61, of Homer Glen. The two were arrested Thursday following an undercover FBI investigation during which the intended victim, who was not identified, was never exposed to any immediate danger, authorities said in a statement. Man Indicted In Winnetka, Skokie Armed Bank Robberies

Carlos Stillwell was indicted by a federal grand jury last week.

A Chicago man was indicted for two counts of aggravated bank robbery last week in connection with two armed "take-over" robberies in Winnetka and Skokie in June. Carlos Stillwell, 42, has been in custody since shortly after the robberies on an unrelated charge. Police charged Stillwell in connection to the Winnetka robbery in February. Following an investigation and forensic analysis by the Northeastern Illinois Regional Crime Laboratory in Vernon Hills, Stillwell was also connected to the Skokie robbery. The Winnetka and Skokie police departments worked with the FBI in the investigation, said Patrick Kreis, interim chief of Winnetka police.
