UPDATED: Missing Lincolnwood Teen Found Safe in Chicago

Carlee Lemel, 17, of Lincolnwood was found in Chicago Tuesday afternoon.

Five days after family members reported a Lincolnwood teen missing, the girl was found safe in Chicago Tuesday afternoon, Wilmette Life reported.  Carlee Lemel, 17, who disappeared from home May 2, was found at a Dominick’s near Lake Michigan and her father Bruce Lemel met the teen at the store. But it’s unclear whether he lured the teen there himself or if Chicago Police located the teen and called the father, Wilmette Life reported. Olympic Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas Coming to Skokie

Meet Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas at Old Orchard Mall on May 2.

Gabby Douglas will be at Barnes & Noble in Old Orchard Mall from 6:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. on May 2. Douglas will be promoting and signing her new book, “Raising the Bar,” which gives an inside view into her life as an average teenage girl as well as her experiences in the spotlight, according to a press release issued on Thursday. Line tickets will be distributed to customers presenting a copy of Douglas’ new book with proof of purchase from Barnes & Noble starting at 9 a.m. on May 2. Douglas won the gold in gymanstics during the 2012 Summer Olympics. She was the first American to win gold in both the individual all-around and team competitions. Skokie Man Led International Tax Fraud Scheme

A Skokie, Ill. man was sentenced to 85 months in prison after leading an international tax fraud scheme that shorted the U.S. Department of Treasury of more than $1.6 million.

SKOKIE, Ill. - A Skokie man has been sentenced to 85 months in prison and ordered to pay $1.6 million in restitution after directing more than 20 federal income tax refunds to his homeland in Romania, authorities said on Monday. Ovidiu Isac, 31, of Skokie, claimed refunds in the names of Romania citizens who had visited the U.S. on exchange student visas, authorities said. Isac will be subject to deportation after completing his sentence in the U.S. At least 470 false tax returns, typically claiming refunds between $4,000 and $7,000, were filed and resulted in a loss of more than $1.6 million to the U.S. Treasury during the conspiracy that spanned three tax years between 2007 and 2009.  The returns were filed in the names and social …

'America's Got Talent' to Hold Chicago Tryouts

NBC's top-rated summer show will be holding auditions in Chicago at McCormick Place on Jan. 26 and Jan. 27.

Last season, "American's Got Talent" had three unique finalists: A comedian, a family dog act and a one-of-a-kind musical instrument. The winner? A group of dogs that danced, performed jump rope tricks and even some gymnastics. "Chicago is an important city for 'America's Got Talent,'" said senior casting producer Jason Shuler. Olympic Gold Medalist Brandi Chastain to Host Soccer Clinic in Evanston

Brandi Chastain might be best known for her game winning kick in the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup. The gold-medalist is scheduled to hold a soccer clinic at Evanston Township High School.

Brandi Chastain, perhaps best known for her game-winning shootout kick in the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup, will be hosting a soccer clinic in Evanston this June. The gold-medalist is currently playing as a defender and midfielder for the California Storm. The announcement was made by Team Evanston Soccer Club on Wednesday. The clinic will run from June 24 to June 28 at the Evanston Township High School Lazier Field. Girls as young as eight can participate, as well as female high school athletes. A New Year’s Day baby boy - Samson Chambers was born to Chicago residents Donald and Sheryl Chambers at NorthShore University HealthSystem in Evanston, 2650 Ridge Ave., on Jan. 1, 2013, at 12:41 a.m. The boy came in at 8-pounds, 3-ounces and 20-inches. “I wanted [Samson] to be born on Christmas day and my husband wanted him to be born on New Year’s Day,” Sheryl Chambers said. “My husband got his wish.” This is the fifth child for the Chambers family. The mother said she now has three girls and two boys. “Honestly, for me, I think it’s a normal thing. It was a regular day for me,” Chambers said. “We gave him the name Samson [which is] from the bible. The name means ‘being strong.’” Chambers added that she had family at the hospital …

During their fall semester students from New Trier High School Fashion Marketing and Merchandising were given the unique opportunity to connect directly with industry professionals. Winnetka Trustee Charged With DUI In Skokie

Jennifer Spinney, a Winnetka trustee, was charged with a DUI in Skokie on Sept. 6. According to the report, Spinney told police she is 'not a criminal' but a 'drunk driver.'

A Winnetka village trustee was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and several other traffic violations in Skokie on Sept. 6 around 1:41 a.m. Jennifer Spinney, 60, of the 200 block of Sheridan Road in Winnetka, was stopped near the 9200 block of McCormick Boulevard after police said they witnessed her make a variety of traffic violations. According to the report, Spinney was driving over the white lane dividers for more than an entire block and was doing 25 in a 40 mph speed zone. Officers would later ask Spinney to exit the vehicle for a field sobriety test to which she replied, “I just want to go home,” according to the report.
