PHOTOS: Santa Visits Winnetka

Families lined up at the gazebo in Hubbard Woods Park Saturday afternoon to visit with Santa Claus. The event was one of several holiday activities around Winnetka this weekend to promote holiday shopping

To the delight of Winnetka's young ones, Santa Claus flew into town Saturday and stopped by Hubbard Woods Park to collect lists of gifts and find out who had been naughty and nice. Saturday and Sunday Winnetka celebrated "Shop Winnetka," a two-day event celebrating the holiday season and encouraging residents to do some of their shopping locally. In addition to the visit by Santa Saturday afternoon, Friday night the village held its tree lighting, Saturday morning Coldwell Bank hosted Mrs. Claus and carriage rides, and Sunday many stores held special holiday sales. The various holiday events were put on with the help of the Winnetka Park District, Chamber of Commerce, Coldwell Banker, Panera Bread, and the Grand Foods. Santa was played by …

Dear Santa: 'I Love You Soooo Much The Same As My Mom And Dad'

Santa Claus himself has agreed to share one of the letters he receives from the children of Winnetka. This is the third and last of the letters selected.

The letters featured on Winnetka-Glencoe Patch are selected from Santa's Mailbox at the corner of Chestnut and Elm Streets. Residents of all ages are welcome to mail their letters there. You are my (ownlee) supper heeroo and you will allways be my supper heeroo and I love you soooo much the same as my Mom and Dad and the elf on the shelf keeps getting moved. A Letter From Santa

St. Nick himself invites kids of all ages to deposit their letters to him in the festive mailbox at Chestnut and Elm.

Check back this Wednesday for our first featured letter to Santa (images and text included!). We're publishing one letter every Wednesday until Dec. 21. An Open Letter to the Residents of Winnetka: This is my favorite time of year! It's quite busy at the North Pole, actually so busy that I don't have a single elf to spare. That's why I'm so grateful to my friends at the Winnetka Park District (especially DeDe and Lee) for their help once again setting up my "special delivery" mailbox at Chestnut and Elm. I've made extraordinary arrangements to get all the children's letters sent to me by overnight delivery between now and December 21.
